Off Season Projects

This off season has already been extremely productive with the completion of multiple projects. Since our last member tournament we have been able to build a bridge with funds donated by the seniors, install new drainage under the member patio to accommodate two additional downspouts from the roof, build bulk material storage bins at the grounds maintenance facility, and last but not least have the irrigation pond cleaned out.

As we transition into winter we will be pruning trees and completing some organizational improvements to our maintenance facility and its surrounding area. Below are some photos of the projects completed so far and a short description during each process.

Bridge project started by 8 South ladies tee. Concrete base reinforced by 3/4" rod prepped, framed, and poured by in house staff

Cinder block work completed and stone veneer being installed on the sides.

Stone caps being mortared in place

Finished walking bridge! Turf restoration remains to be done in the spring on the bridge surrounds.

Patio stones removed, area trenched and graded, and new drainage pipe installed by in-house staff

Connection made to mainline drainage 7' below ground!

Patio stones being re-installed by Assistant Superintendent Michael Brown and staff

Site prep for material storage bins. Previously bulk materials were stored in the member parking lot but will now be out of sight and properly stored at the maintenance facility.

A bulldozer rented to grade 3" rip rap stone and 21AA crushed stone to make a firm base.

Concrete pad poured using a contractor. Pad is reinforced with wire mesh, 5/8" rod, and fiber mesh. Concrete was poured 6" thick.

Blocks being delivered for making walls and partitions

Setting blocks

Making the back wall for the bins and back filling using our mini excavator. The back filling was done to minimize the view of the bins from the golf course. In the spring this hill will be seeded to fine fescues to match the look of the golf course.

Walls being built to separate materials

Pond dredging: Years of sediment buildup in the irrigation pond needed to be removed.

The muck removal process uses pumps to remove sediment from the pond and pump it into a large bag. The bag requires a mulch bed to sit on so the water drains properly. This mulch bed was prepared ahead of the pond crew arriving.

Large pump on the pond edge. This pond at the center is almost 25' deep!

Not only muck was removed from the center of the pond!
